DR. HARRIS
Richard
Harris, MD
Dr. Richard Harris attended the University of Chicago
Laboratory School. He then graduated with honors from
Washington University in St. Louis. Before graduating
from Chicago Medical School, Dr. Harris did a year of
graduate work in biological sciences at the University
of Illinois.
After
medical school, Dr. Harris did two years of general
surgery training at Loyola University Medical Center,
followed by a urologic surgery residency. He then entered
private practice urology with Midwest Urology Associates
where he has remained for the past 20 years. Dr. Harris
is currently president of Midwest Urology.
Dr.
Harris' main interest in urology is prostate cancer.
He is a founding member of The Chicago Prostate Cancer
Center where he served as its Chairman of the Board
for six years. Currently, he is developing a cryosurgery
program there and is the Director of Cryosurgery Services.
Dr.
Harris is also involved in clinical pharmaceutical development.
He is the founder and president of RMD Clinical Research
and has participated in over 50 clinical trials. He
has been on the advisory board to a number of pharmaceutical
companies and has co-authored a book chapter as well
as multiple articles in peer reviewed journals.
Dr.
Harris has performed innumerable cryotherapy procedures
of the prostate and travels the country teaching this
therapy to other urologists. He is the director of the
Chicago Cryotherapy Institute.
